The intersection of Vanowen and Orion remains closed after a police chase and shooting overnight.
KTLA Channel 5 reports police attempted to pull over a car for a traffic violation at Van Nuys and Parthenia around 9:30pm. During the pursuit, the driver shot back at cops.
The driver eventually crashed in to a tree. While trying to get a man and woman out of the car, police ended up shooting and killing the male driver. The woman passenger was not struck but did get hurt during the crash and was taken to the hospital.
Vanowen is expected to remain closed for several hours east of the 405 for the investigation.
