405 SOUTH TRAFFIC JAMMED AT VENICE DUE TO FATAL CRASH

Police are still looking for the suspect in that fatal motorcycle crash on the 405 SOUTH at Venice Blvd yesterday afternoon.

The CHP says the accident happened when a man in a Dodge Neon in the carpool lane that was trying to avoid striking a Mini Cooper that had slowed down in front of him.  He hit the motorcyclist causing the bike to hit the Mini Cooper and then the rear of an SUV.

CHP Officer Sam Kizito told Culver City Patch that the suspect did get out of the car for a few minutes before hopping back in the car and fleeing on the 405 SOUTH.

The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man in his 40s with a short beard.

The carpool and two left lanes remain closed on the 405 SOUTH at Venice after a fatal motorcycle accident.

Reports came in around 4:30 of a sedan and motorcycle colliding and the rider was on the ground.

There were also reports of a black Mini Cooper with front end damage that left the scene reportedly driven by a “middle eastern male.”

405 SOUTH traffic is stop and go from the 101 and jammed starting at Getty Center.  Streets on the westside are jammed too, including Barrington, Bundy and major east west streets like Pico, Olympic, Santa Monica and Wilshire.
