Gas Prices up 20-30 Cents Overnight

The march to $5 a gallon gas is at full speed as overnight prices spiked another 20 to 30 cents across Southern California.

Experts continue to blame a string of refinery issues as the cause of the hefty price hikes.  An August fire at the Chevron refinery, power outage at the Exxon Mobile refinery in Torrance and a problem with the pipline for Tesoro, Valero and Shell all are culprits.

Making matters worse is the reluctance of small mom and pops to buy expensive gasoline with the fear that they may not be able to sell it at the higher price.

GasBuddy.com reports that highest price in Southern California is $5.79 at the Low-P at Calabasas Rd while the lowest price is $4.12 at Sam’s Club on Carson and Dovey in Long Beach.
