President Obama is coming to Los Angeles on October 7 to continue fundraising – this time in Beverly Hills and Downtown Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater and LA Live.
We’re entering uncharted territory as we haven’t really seen him come in to Downtown Los Angeles before. Fortunetly it’s during the weekend so traffic impacts should be less than disruptive than rush hour as most people can avoid the area.
So far, this is what we know:
- The “30 Days to Victory” concert fundraiser will take place at the Nokia Theater on October 7. Doors open at 2:3opm – it is likely the president will arrive a couple hours later.
- After the concert, a dinner will be held at the Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill.
- Based on previous high profile events, streets likely to be closed include Figueroa St, LA Live Way, 11th, Pico, Georgia, Olympic, and Flower
- Other streets on route to the LA Live / Nokia Theater area will be under rolling closures while the motorcade arrives and leaves
- A number of streets will also be closed near Downtown LA for the CicLAvia event that is also taking place on October 7. of
- Plan to avoid Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, October 7 between noon and 9pm.
Update – NBC4 reports that the LAPD has released a list of areas to be affected by President Obama’s visit in the City of Los Angeles.
We also recieved word from a reader that the helicopters were doing a test run over near Cheviot Hills / Rancho Park. So based on the info, it appears Obama will arrive at LAX, he will be helicoptered to Rancho Park and then motorcaded in to and out of Beverly Hills as he usually stays at the Beverly Hilton. It also seems that he will be flown via helicopter to the LA Live / Nokia Theater area.

This is fucking bullshit. Excuse the french but I know no other way to express it. Its like the whole world has to stop for us when hes in town. Why? Clinton even Bush never pulled this crap. He literally shuts down all the major streets for miles around him RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR. And now tomorrow I can’t go to Downtown even if I wanted to? Balls. I’ve been through this way too many times and suffered for being late to work. So fundraise away boss nigger, you’re not getting my vote. (But neither is the other guy.)
Avenue of the Stars does not go up to Sunset. Is that supposed to say Beverly Glen from Pico to Sunset?
