Caltrans technician Duane Wiles is under investigation after several of his bridge tests were found to be falsified.
The Sacramento Bee reports Wiles is accused of either faking the test results or performing them improperly by not checking that his testing gauge was functioning.
KTLA says Wiles reportedly worked on several local projects. One was a bridge on 405 freeway at Braddock in Culver City. He also worked on the carpool flyover on the 60 and 57 in Diamond Bar and the La Sierra overpass on the 91 freeway in Riverside.
The Bee also reports he performed tests on 7 of 13 pilings for the new San Francisco Bay Bridge.
Caltrans insists that bridge is still safe and points out the pile on the 405 in question was replaced before the bridge was completed.
Wiles has been put on administrative leave while state and federal probes continue.
