HOLLYWOOD BLVD CLOSED DUE TO RIOT, POLICE ACTIVITY

Things seem to be back to normal in Hollywood.

Update 9:49pm

Traffic is now moving down Hollywood Blvd. Word is they will let people out but are still blocking inbound traffic for the time being.

Red Line has resumed service to Hollywood / Highland station. Bus detours remain in place.

They are now in the process of opening Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood and Highland camera showing many people starting to walk around the complex.

Things seem to be winding down. LAPD has asked all outside units to checkout at the command post.

Traffic on the 101 is moving now between the Valley and Hollywood.

Still heavy traffic southbound on Highland and Cahuenga Blvd through the Cahuenga Pass.

Hollywood, Sunset, Franklin, Santa Monica, Fountain and Melrose all jammed east-west between Wilton and La Brea still heavy

La Brea, Vine and Highland north-south still jammed between Melrose and Franklin

LAPD running motor officers up and down the street to make sure it’s clear. They’re starting to get some jaywalkers now that things have calmed down.

LAPD still coordinating, their goal is to get Hollywood Blvd open east-west … trying to make sure streets are clear

Metro says the Hollywood/Highland Red Line Station closed, trains bypassing. Hollywood Bl buses detour via Highland, Sunset, La Brea.

LAPD now talking about opening up east-west traffic on Hollywood Blvd and keeping the north south streets closed for now.

Traffic is about to be shut down on Sycamore between Franklin and Hawthorn

Hollywood Blvd remains closed between Orange and Highland while LAPD tries to get the crowds under control.

STAY AWAY.  EVERYTHING IS GRIDLOCKED as far west as Crescent Heights / Laurel Canyon and as far east as Western.  Everything between the Valley and Melrose is also a huge jam up.

Laurel Canyon, Cahuenga and the 101 are all barely moving.  There’s also a concert that will be letting out at the Hollywood Bowl which will also make things worse.

From scanner chatter sounds like they’re about ready to do another push westbound.

Scanner chatter indicates they want to push people north on Highland from Johnny Grant Way.  @NickWalsh told the Tim Conway Jr show on KFI that they have also been pushing people west towards La Brea.

Police officials tell KFI News that originally officers were trying to break up the crowd but then some dancers showed up and got the crowd all worked up.

Electronic DJ @Kaskade has tweeted that he is afraid for everyone’s safety and they should relax.

Scanner chatter indicates that a group of people may be assaulting an elderly man at Hollywood and McCadden

Hollywood Blvd is closed between Highland and Orange while police deal with an unruly crowd.

Reports came in to our friends @WeHoDaily around 6:30 of a crowd forming outside the Mann’s Chinese Theater. 

There were also indications that about 1000 people were there for an even that was cancelled.  Total Traffic affiliate KFI AM640 is reporting that it was the “Electric Daisy Carnvial” movie premiere that was cancelled.

Shortly after 7pm, fights started erupting according to witnesses.  LAPD started pushing back the crowd around 7:30-7:40pm.  @NickWalsh is reporting that at least one cop car has been damaged.
