LA Pride Street Closures, Parking Information and Bus Detours in West Hollywood for 2011

Hundreds of thousands of people will be clogging the streets of West Hollywood this weekend for LA Pride 2011.  Getting in, out (no pun intended) and around can be quite tricky.

Here’s what you need to know…

Street Closures

The bulk of the closures will take place on Sunday.  Only San Vicente between Santa Monica and Melrose will be closed before that, starting Thursday night at 7pm.   This is where the actual festival is taking place.

Sunday 5am-5pm

The LA Pride parade route is down Santa Monica between Fairfax and Doheny but there are other street closures for staging areas and crowd control:

  • Santa Monica Blvd between Fairfax and Doheny (use Melrose or Sunset as alternates)
  • Crescent Heights between Romaine and Fountain (use Fairfax or La Brea as alterantes)
  • Norton Ave between Laurel and Havenhurst
  • ALL side streets along the way closed one block north and south of Santa Monica Blvd

Parking

Like Halloween, Pride weekend is a parking free for all – that means the permit requirements will be lifted starting Saturday morning at 7am until Monday morning at 7am.

Friday and Saturday

Parking will cost you $7.50 at two city garages:

  • Kings Road Parking Structure - 8383 Santa Monica Blvd (at Kings Rd)
  • Hancock Parking Structure – 901 Hancock Ave (at Santa Monica)

Sunday

Parking gets jacked up to $15 or $20 depending on which structure you use.

$15 Parking

  • Kings Road Parking Structure – 8383 Santa Monica Blvd (at Kings Rd)
  • Hancock Parking Structure – 901 Hancock Ave (at Santa Monica)
  • La Jolla / Havenhurst Lots – 1043 La Jolla Ave (at Havenhurst)
  • La Peer Lot – 623 La Peer Dr (between Santa Monica and Melrose)
  • Orange Grove Lot – 1114 N. Orange Grove (north of Santa Monica)

$20 Parking

  • Pacific Design Center (Melrose and San Vicente – enter off Melrose)

Bus Detours

Lines 10, 305, 550, and 705 that run along San Vicente will be detoured starting Thursday night (June 9) at 7pm until Monday morning at 7am.   For specific bus detours, click here…

Lines 2, 4, 105, 217, 218, and 704 that run along Santa Monica will also be impacted between 5am and 5pm on Sunday (June 12) during the parade closures.  For specific bus detours, click here…

 CityLine Shuttle Service

West Hollywood’s internal transit service will also see disruptions.

Friday

  • Regular service ends at 3pm
  • Special service route on Santa Monica between Fuller and La Peer will run from 7:30pm to 3:30am

Saturday

  • No regular service
  • Special service on Santa Monica between Fuller and La Peer will run from 7:30pm to 3:30am

Sunday

  • Special service starts after the LA Pride parade and runs until 2:30am on Santa Monica between Fuller and La Peer

If you are not attending the parade… just stay out of West Hollywood – you’ll be fine.  If you must travel through, Sunset or Melrose are your best bets.
