Update 9:35pm (12-28-2010)

Well that was short lived … Almost 12 hours after it opened, Caltrans once again shut down PCH (1) between Yerba Buena and Las Posas at 6ish tonight.

Caltrans says that Pacific Coast Highway (1) will reopen between Yerba Buena Rd and Las Posas Rd tomorrow morning (12-28-2010) at 6am.

The lengthy stretch of PCH between Malibu and Point Mugu / Oxnard has been closed since December 18 when rocks began to fall on to the road because of heavy lanes.

Caltrans climbers work to remove loose and dangerous rocks before they fall on to Pacific Coast Highway.

“Motorists should plan for delays,” warns Caltrans spokesman Patrick Chandler, “flagging operations will be in place as crews continue to remove debris from the area during the daytime.”

Chandler adds that the nortbound lane will be closed from 6am to 6pm and at night the lane will be open from 6pm to 6am.

Alternate routes are still advised, especially using 101 to Kanan Rd as has been necessary since the closure was first put in to place.
